Yay! I FINALLY drew a picture from The Host! This was one of my favorite scenes from the book, when everyone celebrated the fact that Wanda had saved Jamie. The moment I read this part, this particular image filled my mind and I KNEW that I had to draw it. What can I say? Stephenie Meyer knows how to write good imagery. Heres the passage from the chapter, Encircled:
Those remaining slouched down where we were as the room became avaliable. Gradually, we melted in place until we were horizontal. My head ended up pillowed on Jared's stomach; his hand stroked my hair now and then. Jamie's face was against my chest, and his arms were around my neck. One of my arms was wrapped around his shoulders. Ian's head was cushioned on my stomach, and he held my other hand to his face.
And then
I am especially proud with how this picture turned out. I am also pleasantly surprised with how well the lighting looked (for my art, anyway! ^_^ ). I also had to admit that this picture as just as hard as Bella in Depression, but for different reasons. In the Bella picture, I had to worry about backgrounds and lighting. However, in this one, I had to worry about drawing multiple people in one picture who were each connected in some way.
I am really glad at how I decided to constantly draw out of my comfort zone (I mean look at all the HANDS in the picture! Oh! And the fact that Jamie is embracing Wanda/Melanie! o_O), because I feel like with each picture, I slowly start to get better and better.
Well, I hope that you enjoy this picture as much as I enjoyed creating it! ^_^
Too many FEELS!!!
